News Note May 2026

The biggest news this month is Solent Flyer, the BHT 130 that was the previous generation of Solent passenger hovercraft is now on its way to Kazakhstan, to join its sister open deck craft the Caspian Falcon. The craft should be most useful for personnel logistics to the Kashagan field, year-round.
At the end of May the Royal Norwegian Navy held an Industry day in Bergen for potential suppliers to pitch their equipment and capabilities for the JCC amphibious assault programme. Both Griffon Marine and ESNA were there. I

News Note July 2025

This month we have news of the latest SSC delivery and contracts in the US, while three Griffon GH2500 craft have been delivered to the Pakistan Navy. Two Wind Farm SES, the UMOE Firmus and Rapid have moved to management by Tee Marine in Denmark.
There is a range of news from Griffon Marine including their new Commando Insertion Craft concept.
New deliveries of air lubricated ships have been reported from Silverstream and Knutsen, and the first technical conference on ALS has been held in Trondheim.

News Note March 2025

It is good to see that Textron Systems now seem to be up to speed building and delivering the SSCs to US Navy. There are many more to go on this long-term project.
On the SES front we have news from Aircat of their vessels in Angola, and the associated company Eureka marketing new versions including an unmanned version.

The ACV and SES business has continued very active through December and January, so we have news from Aircat, US Navy, Silverstream, and several Light Craft companies in this issue.

Trawling YouTube continues to be valuable, while distracting at times. Nevertheless, there is a significant amount of material for you to watch without spending time searching or yourselves getting distracted.

At the beginning of June, the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings was marked by events in France, Europe and in the US at ACU 5.
The US navy has now commissioned LCAC 109, the ninth of the new series produced at Textron in New Orleans. This joins the existing fleet of the original LCAC craft that have had life extension upgrades.
