Technical Secretary of The Hovercraft Society from 2021. A Naval Architect who started professional career at Vosper Thornycroft in Portsmouth. One year guest worker at NPL Ship Division, Feltham, then worked on Vosper VT-1 as maintenance supervisor in Malmø, and subsequently in design office on hovercraft stability studies with BHC, and Sea Pearl model tests for ACE.
Moved into offshore engineering with DBV Offshore, and from there to Brown and Root Vickers followed by Norske Shell. Remainder of career spent on offshore and onshore oil and gas projects and R&D. Developed Floating LNG concept (now in use on Prelude Field). Finished career as Senior Internal Auditor for Shell International. From 1993 has been engaged in preparation and publication of series of engineering books on Air Cushion Technology, Wing in Ground Effect Craft, High Speed Catamarans and Multihulls, Air Lubricated Ships, and High Speed Monohulls and Hydrofoils, and High Performance Marine Vessels.
