Iain Davis, Vessel Mater of the CWind Pioneer, will give us an overview of operations out to Wind Farms by CWind’s specialist vessels. This includes high-speed personnel transfer to site, and the in-field operations while maintenance is ongoing. He will explain the advantages as well as the challenges of an SES in this service, together with the complexities introduced with hybrid power systems.

Bryan Phillips will give us an outline of his hovercraft business, its history, and the present craft. His Explorer 24 has proven itself over the last 18 years, on trips as long as 1400 miles from Seattle to Juneau Alaska up the inside passage and an 1800-mile trip to the Arctic Ocean.

On March 22/23/24 we held a series of presentation and discussion meetings on Zoom. The meetings were set separately to be convenient for evening events for East Coast Australia, Europe and finally East Coast US (with West Coast being afternoon time).
The meetings were begun with a short presentation by THS Technical Secretary, followed by discussions.

Join us for insight into the history of hovercraft and SES skirt design, presentation of design features, and illustrations with designs and photographs.
Professor Doctors will also present a method of estimating the drag generated by skirts as they deflect at speed that has been correlated with model tests and experimental measurements.

We have been fortunate enough to have Hovertravel prepare a special presentation for us. It is recorded and so has contributions from several of the key staff.
